We're excited to announce new features live on Rapid Platform Monday, November 2nd

Features

Restrict Rapid to chosen SharePoint sites

Administrators can now give Rapid access to just the SharePoint sites they choose (Sites.Selected), granted with their own sign-in, instead of broad access to every site. SharePoint folder permission sync works with this narrower access.

Faster, more reliable SharePoint folder permissions

Items that follow their table's default permissions now inherit them from the table's SharePoint folder instead of each holding its own copy. Table folders take on the table's default as soon as an item is created or saved, and stay in step when it changes. Background sync now only touches folders whose permissions actually differ from the default, so permissions stay correct with far less SharePoint traffic.

Install Experience Host apps on your home screen

Experience Host apps can now be added to a phone or tablet home screen and open like a native app, with their own icon, sign-in and spacing that suits the device.

Create records straight from a table

Tables in Experience Host can now show a New button that opens a chosen form to create a record. It only appears for people allowed to create items in that list.

Linked items, page headers and menus in Experience Host

Views can now be filtered to the record you're viewing, page headers and breadcrumbs show the record's title and summary, and a new side menu lets you switch between experiences. Sites can also have their own browser icon.

Improvements

  • SharePoint sync now waits and retries when SharePoint asks Rapid to slow down, rather than failing
  • Repairing a site no longer re-syncs every SharePoint folder permission on the site, so repairs are much lighter on SharePoint
  • Embedded files are now loaded through their record, so they follow the record's permissions
  • Experience Host loads faster, with no white flash on reload and steadier placeholders while lists load
  • Tabs in Experience Host keep your unsaved changes when you switch between them
  • Card payments made through Pinch are no longer surcharged

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where tabs restricted to certain people were shown to everyone in Experience Host
  • Fixed an issue where Power BI reports kept failing with an expired token until the servers were restarted
  • Fixed an issue where deleting a field that had to be unique stopped new items being created in that list
  • Fixed an issue where SharePoint folders were left behind when creating an item failed
  • Fixed an issue where SharePoint sync stopped when an item's folder had been removed from SharePoint
  • Fixed an issue where workflow runs failed to display when an associated item was missing
  • Fixed an issue where some tab and menu icons didn't appear in Experience Host
